Without the movie, we can also draw the same conclusion about human nature. We are animals. The difference: we always try to get more than we need. Any spice need to find out the structure to survive. We figured out some balance so that the winner will NOT take all and the loser can still make a living. The balance changed overtime and we have wars and revolution.
The movie did not have good box office result. How could you expect Americans go to a movie and admit that it's actually their system that prohibit them from being pure beast? It's against their common believe that human beings have moral. And how would you expect some 3rd world countries to get movie imported just to admit that their system is set to fail?
It started with imbalanced power, and we witness how and why absolute power corrupts. We sometimes blame individuals that born to be devil but the truth is that few people can resist the temptation of power and the pleasure of abusing it.
The real trick of the experiment is not just the "rules" that give absolute power but the prize that everyone came and registered for. Everyone need that and agree to keep the "balance". It can be the "well being of the nation" or "the glory of a party". Whatever that is, it gives dictator more power.
The balance will break when the loser finds out that they have nothing to lose. The would rather to die with the winner and pay no attention to the so called "great good" or common interest.
This is purely how history repeated itself and will continue to repeat itself.
